Wallace (as in Wallace and Gromit) Grove

We are almost settled in at our new abode. I was chatting to a guy at work about his house and how they are getting a light switch moved as it was one of those annoying things in a house that would notice if you were buying it. Our new house has a long list of those things, but the general feeling of the place is far better then our old place.

Our fourth home in three years is located in a little village just outside (across the M4) of Reading. We went for a walk on one of our first evening and within moments we were in the countryside, deers and foxes for company (well one deer and a dash of a fox!) Our garden is east facing and has an overhanging apple tree and a grape vine. We have potted our basil, coriander and peppers on our patio and we awake with our neighbours rooster at 5:30am each morning (not too much before we get up anyway). The evenings are getting lighter and last night we drew the curtains at 9:45 just before we went to bed and it was still light outside.

Peter gets to work a lot earlier and therefore gets home earlier (which is why we moved in the first place) I get to work at the same time and get home later (assuming I don't get stuck on the wrong side of the road), but not for too much longer as we will soon be a two car carbon emitting couple, good for time, bad for money and the environment :-(

So that list of annoying things... we have three toilets, that's a lot of extra bathroom cleaning for me, I'm tempted to make some of them out of bounds, but which one? The downstairs one is handy, one is the en suite and the other is in the 'family' bathroom, perhaps the family bathroom will be out of bounds until we have guests. On that note, if guests want a shower they have to use our en suite, but don't turn up the pressure, the last tenants left us a broken shower head which is damn hard to find a replacement for. The master bedroom is big enough for a bed, but where do you put your clothes? There is no space for drawers. The kitchen door closes on it's own but when it is open you can't really cook at the stove or get to the rubbish or fridge. The house was well equipped, fondue set and all but where are they hiding their sharp knives? Perhaps in the garage with the skull and horns and the deep fat fryer, full of oil (not anymore, it spilt on the garage floor). There is no space for book shelves or storage of books. Thankfully there is room for my HK couch, just so I may actually finish my training!

We sleep well and there is a proper bakery within walking distance, along with an Indian restaurant, a wine shop/post office and a petrol station, what more could we ask for?

Back to work for me, off to Bath tomorrow for a client visit...
