Australia Day (and my birthday!)

Today was Australia Day (I did plan my 'work' trip well) so there were lots of things going on around Sydney. The first activity for the day was the ferry boat race on the harbour. This shot was taken from the harbour bridge just as the four ferries were coming up to the finish line.
After the race we headed to Hyde Park for some lunch. On the way I had to take a couple of tourist pics....

After lunch we went down through the botanical gardens to the water front to see the repeat air force display, unfortunately there didn't seem to be much of a repeat, but we did spy this helicopter...
Once again I couldn't resit the tourist shot and I also managed to capture Will and Allen, two of my colleagues that are currently working in Sydney, acted as my tour guides for the day. Will in the red shirt and Allen in the green. We were heading off to the Opera bar for a well earned drink!
After all the day activities were done, I went back to my hotel to 'freshen' up and then we met up later for some rather average dinner. Post dinner we went to Darling Harbour to watch a fireworks display which was a pretty spectacular way to end a birthday. It's pretty tempting to move here just so that I get these celebrations every birthday!
