Guy Fawkes

England and Guy Fawkes are a perfect match really, not too surprising considering the history. I used to adore Guy Fawkes here as a kid. We used to go to a friends house for a bonfire night party. They had it in their orchard and had a big bonfire, lots of yummy food and all the kids in the village. What more could you want, you remember being a kid at your parents parties, while they were drinking and socialising you were off hiding and playing, all great fun. I guess we are all heading to the drinking and socialising part and it will be our kids running around playing.

Anyway, bonfire night here is a big event and it feels a lot more like how I remember it. This year we went to the Oxford Round Table bonfire night in one of the Oxford parks. They had a massive bonfire and a really good fireworks display. I have some photos of both the bonfire and fireworks, but I had no tripod so bear that in mind when viewing them. The bonfire was amazing and very enchanting, but I kind of like fire! Very cool night and if we come back to NZ, English bonfire nights will be top of the list of things I miss.

"I kind of like fire" - should we be worried about your pyromaniac tendencies here Em!?! ;-P
